Mgoza Group is built on the shared vision, dedication and leadership of Mr Moses Kunene and Mrs Popi Kunene. Together they have created a diversified group of businesses driven by innovation, integrity and a passion for creating sustainable solutions that improve lives, empower communities and contribute to South Africa's economic growth.
Mr Moses Kunene
Mr Moses Kunene is the visionary entrepreneur and founder of Mgoza Group. His entrepreneurial journey began at a young age in KwaZulu-Natal, where he sold fruit at football matches to help support his family. Those early experiences instilled a strong work ethic, resilience and a passion for creating opportunities through business.
After relocating to Gauteng, he accepted full-time employment while continuing to pursue entrepreneurial ventures after hours. He sold various products to supplement his income and support both his immediate and extended family. His determination to become a business owner never faded, and every opportunity became a stepping stone toward building something greater.
His breakthrough came after identifying a growing need for reliable home visit transportation services. Working alongside the taxi industry gave him valuable insight into customer needs and transport logistics. He soon secured a contract to transport employees for one of South Africa's leading warehouse companies. While balancing a full-time job during the day and running his business at night, he often survived on only a few hours of sleep, demonstrating the dedication that still defines his leadership today.
As demand increased, Mr Kunene made the bold decision to leave his permanent employment and focus entirely on growing the business. Under his leadership, the company expanded into vehicle maintenance, car wash services, wood cutting and edging, manufacturing solutions and several other successful ventures that today form part of Mgoza Group.
Mr Kunene continues to lead the Group with a clear vision of solving real-world problems through entrepreneurship, innovation and service excellence. His greatest passion remains creating employment, empowering communities and building businesses that leave a lasting positive impact on society.
Mrs Popi Kunene
Mrs Popi Kunene is an accomplished business, finance and technology executive with extensive experience in banking, insurance, digital transformation and enterprise technology implementation. Her career has been dedicated to helping organisations improve operational efficiency, customer experience and business performance through innovation and strategic leadership.
She began her career during the early stages of technological transformation, developing expertise across commercial banking, insurance, compliance, enterprise integration and large-scale technology implementation projects. Her ability to bridge business strategy with technology has enabled organisations to successfully modernise their operations while delivering measurable value.
Throughout her career, Mrs Kunene has successfully led digital transformation initiatives, core banking implementations, system integrations and organisational change programmes. She has also led multidisciplinary teams using Agile methodologies while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
As Chief Operating Officer of Mgoza Group, she oversees business operations, governance, strategic planning and organisational excellence across the Group's portfolio of companies. Her leadership ensures that every business operates efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, customer satisfaction and sustainable growth.
Mrs Kunene is passionate about developing people, embracing technology and creating businesses that are resilient, innovative and prepared for the future. Her strategic leadership continues to play a vital role in positioning Mgoza Group as a trusted and forward-thinking organisation.
